LONGTIME EMPLOYEE DONOR AND HER HUSBAND FIND VALUE IN CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITIES

Dorothy and Charles Salovesh

Dorothy Lippman Salovesh, MSN, ACHPN, and her husband Charles (Ched) Salovesh, LL.B., J.D., have given back to St. Jude Medical Center in countless ways. Dorothy has dedicated more than 29 years of service to St. Jude, serving in a variety of the hospital's care settings. Ched, former Deputy Marshal for North Orange County, Judge Pro Tempore in Municipal Court, prosecuting attorney, law professor and law school Dean, has been a frequent patient visitor and a patient himself at St. Jude.

When they married in 2002, Dorothy and Ched created a charitable gift annuity to support St. Jude Medical Center. But their contributions didn't end there: Dorothy and Ched again stepped forward in 2011 and funded another substantial charitable gift annuity with St. Jude Medical Center.

"We chose the charitable gift annuity as the vehicle for donation because it benefits both donor and receiver," says Dr. Salovesh. "This provides us with security, income and longevity insurance, while allowing us to support St. Jude Medical Center where both of us have experienced and benefited from the healing atmosphere and commitment to medical excellence."

The continued support by the Saloveshes through both their time and treasure truly demonstrates how compassion and generosity can make our community a better place. Recently, Dorothy successfully championed integration of the newly recognized palliative care medical specialty into St. Jude Medical Center's spectrum of patient service, and became St. Jude's first Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner. Ched keeps trying to retire, but continues to conduct judicial hearings for the Orange County Superior Court, a role he's held since 2005.
